This painting beautifully captures the pain of the people you care about stretching you too thin. This pain is shown through the incisions on the brown-eyed figure's body and the knife planted in her eye. The chains on the operating table show that the operation is occurring against the brown-eyed figure's will. The blue collar around the brown-eyed figure's neck shows she belongs to the blue-eyed characters seen in other paintings. This painting would make a great conversation starter.
